Case Report of Air Gun Head Injury In 12 Year Old Male

Penetrating skull and cerebrum defects are caused by gunshots or drilling, low kinetic energy wounds. Firearms gunshots are made during crime scenes, suicide tries or accidental events (e.g. cleaning weapon, playing with weapon without supervision). Towards to wide, unlimited access to air guns generating less than 17 J of energy grows the number of gunshots to head, trunk and limbs in the group of children and youth. The author of the article presents case of child gunshot wounds from air gun, where penetrating defect has taken place. Fast diagnosis made in emergency room of county hospital in Dębica, caused that after less than an hour patient was send to child surgery department and treated conservatively. After one year patient didn’t show any neurological symptoms and was taken under care in neurological dispensary for children.
