Inhalatory burns are serious injury burdened with high percentage of mortality rate and they importantly worsen prognosis concerning survival of the patients. Disturbances of the respiratory tract functions cause oxygen deficiency in tissues, stimulate reactions of mediators and increase the rate of systemic inflammatory reaction syndrome (SIRS). Applied therapeutic methods are not always effective, whereas the patients with thermal injury, what is important, characterize with various sensitivity to the used drugs. There is a necessity of continuous modification of the procedure and searching for new methods of the therapy. Observed beneficial effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy give hope for quick introduction of that procedure to standards of treatment of the respiratory tract burns.
