Author(s): ANDRZEJ PIELA, WOJCIECH PLUSKIEWICZ ,BARBARA CZERNICKI ,RENATA BARAN

Osteoporosis is a disease naturally integrating into our medical and social reality. An increase in this problem has enforced dynamic development of possibilities for pharmacological treatment of osteoporosis and special attention paid to its prophylaxis. The paper presents problems from branches of medicine that seem far apart, determining a critical moment in this disease, i.e. risk of falls. The common character of osteoporosis has caused a growing interest in this disorder among doctors of various disciplines and the efforts to obtain more and more effective diagnostic and therapeutic methods.
