  Melioidosis - Orthopaedic perspective

  Melioidosis carries a very high mortality rate, clinical manifestation can range from acute fulminant sepsis to latent infection with 9% recurrence rate. The early diagnosis and long term treatment plays a key role in patient recovery and in preventing recurrence. Being a mimicker of many other diseases, clinical suspicion and adequate diagnsotic approach plays important role in confirming melioidosis. It requires long term antibiotic controll disease and prevent recurrence.
